Objective

To update the Petco mascots.

Solution

Red Ruff & Blue Mews are an iconic part of Petco’s branding and required modernization. The mascot redesign focused on refining facial features, breed characteristics, and costume design in order to better align to the company’s updated branding and logo mark. This project shows the delicate balance between modernizing a brand and preserving beloved elements that resonate with customers. The redesigned mascots played a key role in launching Petco's flagship store in New York, NY and make regular appearances at Petco Park during Padres games.
